PYA won a grant from the Erasmus+ Sport program for developing the Volunteering System

45 775 EUR – this is the amount of the grant obtained by the Polish Yachting Association from the Erasmus+ Sport program. The results of the competition were announced by the European Commission, and the project, which has gained recognition and has won a grant, concerns the development of volunteering at the international level.

“VolunSailing: supporting the mobility of volunteers in sailing organizations” is the name of the project submitted by the Polish Yachting Association. It is a response to one of the main goals of the European Commission, which is to support the mobility of volunteers, trainers, managers and employees of non-profit sports organizations. The project, led by PYA, will be implemented in cooperation with the Hungarian Sailing Federation and the Romanian sports club “Wind Hunters”.

Thanks to the grant, a universal textbook will be created. This manual will contain a specific instruction for organizing and implementing volunteering in any sailing organization. The manual will be available free of charge to sailing organizations wishing to implement volunteering in a systemic way in their structures It will also include a set of ready-to-use documents. The basis will be the Volunteering System developed and implemented this year by the Polish Yachting Association, compliant with global standards and appreciated by volunteers working at sailing events in Poland. Volunteering is carried out in three areas of the Association’s work: office, events and events, and training and sports. Volunteering in each of these areas is divided into three levels: introductory, advanced and leadership.

The Volunteering System developed and implemented by the Polish Yachting Association also aims to create a base of volunteers, standardize organizational processes and support projects implemented or co-implemented by PYA. It is also a tool for comprehensive volunteering management, which is an effective element of the CSR (corporate social responsibility) strategy.

The model of work within the Erasmus+ project includes work meetings in each of the partner countries, which will allow to observe and analyze how the volunteering systems are implemented in these countries. The progress of works will be published on this website, which is available in English, Polish, Romanian and Hungarian. The collected conclusions and experiences will be subjected to detailed analyzes. Based on these analyzes a universal manual will be developed, which will contain a set of ready-to-use rules describing implementing volunteering in any sailing organization.

Obtaining this grant is the result of efficient, international cooperation between PYA, the Hungarian Sailing Federation and the Romanian Wind Hunters club; with the support of EUROSAF. I congratulate the employees of the PYA’s Training and Development Department, Anna Kuder, Weronika Dyjas and Maciej Szafran, who prepared the application very thoroughly and thank all the partners with whom we are pleased to cooperate on this project – says Tomasz Chamera, the president of PYA.
