At the very end of the project. VolunSailing is one step away from publishing its outcome

The fourth meeting of the VolunSailing project, run by the Polish Yachting Association together with the Hungarian Sailing Federation and the Romanian Wind Hunters club, took place by the Black Sea in Constana from 10th to 13th of June 2022. The main purpose of the meeting was to create the final version of the documents of the international volunteering system to be published in the fall.
The team of 11 people met in the nautical base of to the Constanta Maritime University. The project work was combined with attending the Romanian Championships in Optimist and RS Tera classes, organized by theWind Hunters club members.

The location of Constana, which provides access to the Black Sea and two lakes, provides athletes with amazing opportunities for sports development. Weekend regattas were a good opportunity to observe the club’s sailing facilities and their way of the event organisation, as well as talk about new perspectives, such as the humorous and lively Express Sailing competition, originating from the initiative of Alexander Micu – President of the Romanian Sailing Federation and Commander of the Wind Hunters Sailing Club.

The meeting in Constanţa was our fourth and penultimate meeting within the “Volunsailing” project of the Erazmus + Sport program. The project work is entering a key phase. Two days of meetings were spent on finalizing the documents that make up the international volunteering system. We have done a lot of solid work and I am sure that our project will be successful and meet the deadline. At the end of the current calendar year the developed tool will be ready to use. The work was all the more pleasant because the meeting took place in beautiful natural environment. Our hosts, commander and members of the sports club “Wind Hunters” invited us to the nautical base of the Maritime University of Constana, located on the picturesque Lake Siutghiol. I am very grateful for their hospitality and all the effort they put into preparing our meeting. I am glad to see everyone again next month – this time in Gdynia, where we will work on finalizing and promoting the project – Anna Kuder sums up.

During the four-day stay, a supporting program was also implemented. The hosts of the meeting provided the project guests not only with attractions in the port, but also a spectrum of historical knowledge and interesting facts about the Romanian culture. We spent 4 days in Constanţa at our fourth project meeting. There was an 8-hour meeting on Friday where we discussed the survey results and made many decisions about the structure of the international volunteer scheme template. On Saturday, all partners watched and volunteered to organize the RSTera 2022 National Championship. On Sunday after the closing ceremony of the RS Tera Championship, we organized a rehearsal for a new Romanian regatta proposal called Express Sailing. During the Monday meeting, partners discussed the future activities of the project – says Alexandru Micu, vice president of EUROSAF.

The VolunSailing project is carried out within the funds obtained by PYA from the Erasmus+ Sport program of the European Commission. Its aim is to promote and activate volunteering during the implementation of sailing events, and to create standards and procedures that are to be used both in sailing organizations in the three countries implementing it, as well as in EUROSAF and World Sailing.
